Land of the Free

A land of the free,
and improbable goal
We humans are greedy,
right to the soul.

We seek to gain,
to own, and oppress.
We seek to lavish,
and to ourselves, bless.

Wounds are opened,
by ourselves, to our brothers.
We feel no remorse,
When actions harm another.

A generation or robots,
free from emotion.
A society of apostates,
free from devotion.

An increase of hate,
underestimation of sin.
Great groups of girls,
breaking thier skin.

Children without fathers,
with fear to commit.
Children with knives,
as sharp as their wit.

In truth, I tell you,
there is a better way.
I'll share my Light,
if I may.

Im Christ, may you see,
that freedom abounds.
Grace love, peace,
and great friends surround.

In Christ, in His Truth,
your soul you can save.
In Christ, is the land of the free,
and the home of the brave.

There's my newest work. I wrote it english class, when I probably should have been doing other work. I hope you like it. PLEASE COMMENT.

The Greatest of All

Now that I'm near You,
I think I can hear You.
With your strength and wisdom,
I pray I will fear You.

When I'm on my own,
Or I feel alone,
Then I'll look to You,
and you'll call me home.

My sorrow and fear,
My anger and hate,
When I'm in Your presence,
Your fire cremates.

To You alone,
I'll hastily go,
For Your mercy and grace,
Like great rivers flow.

I'm my times of sadness,
In my plagues of doubt,
You give me wings, joy,
And a voice to shout:

"I love my God,
the creator of all!
With His own Son,
He conquered the fall!"

The fall of the world,
through Adam and Eve,
has brought forth a gift,
one hard to believe.

The betrayal of Judas,
In Gethsemane,
Which one day later,
Bought Christ Calvary.

And on His Cross,
as the Lord, my God, died,
His love for the world,
was then amplified.

What greater gift,
Can a man give his friends,
Then to lay down his life,
To abstain their ends.

So much greater,
This gift must be,
Then to lay down one's life,
For his enemy.

His enemies he loved,
Though they didn't love Him.
But to save them all,
His price paid was grim.

But that wasn't the end,
for our hero, friend, and Savior.
For, from death He rose,
three days later.

His sacrifice was true,
His motives were pure.
From sin and death,
He offered a cure.

But don't take it for granted,
This cure cost a price.
We're now given freedom,
From sin, anger, and vice.

And though offered freely,
Now don't get me wrong,
My soul was still captive,
'Til Christ came along.

My life is now His,
'cause He lives in my heart.
He purchased that space.
Here's the incredible part.

You cannot pay money,
nor gold, bronze, or mud.
So, to save my soul,
He paid with his blood.

Now I live my life,
On His turf, by His rules.
But listen to this,
Both the wise, and the fools.

He lived His commandment,
On which all others crawl.
He lived with LOVE,
And that's the greatest commandment of all.

~~~~~~~~
Love, it's amazing, isn't it? It's incredibly hard to define.  Most of us experience at least some measure of love from our families, though not all.
I love my friends, though many would disagree with me, and much of the time, my actions say otherwise. I know that not everyone loves their friends, or at least not to the same level as I do.
So, what do I define love as? I would define it as a willingness to sacrifice everything, including, but not limited to your own life, for a friends well-being. This could be as simple as saving a seat at lunch, standing up to the school bully(ies) in regards to your friend, or...taking a bullet.
Christ showed this. He died for His friends. Us. Humankind. His sacrifice sets us free. All He DESERVES, not wants, in return is our willingness to do the same for Him. To give up everything.
Now, I believe most would say that Christianity is all about rules, and to a certain extent, it is about rules. But all of these rules sit on one with. Christianity is a religion about love. All the commandments are based on this.
To end this off, I'll quote my favourite Bible verse:
"Let all that you do, be done in Love".
1 Corinthians 16:14
Footsteps
So, sorry for my lack of updating...I'm kind of lazy. Here's a new poem I've been working on...since about....8 o'clock. Some of you might understand some hidden meanings, some might not. Feel free to write replies.
What have I accomplished?
Have I done good works, or merely boasted?
What have I commited?
Have I caused much grief, or safely coasted?
Why do I feel the way I do?
I feel like nothing has changed, nothing is new.
But truly, if you knew, you'd turn away,
'Cause I'm not like them, that's safe to say.
They're all the same,
Well, most, at least.
Some are saved,
but most follow the Beast.
You don't think I'm different?
Well, you're sorely mistaken.
They live for this world,
And the money they're makin'.
But not I! Nor my closest friends.
We have a higher purpose, and that is to cleanse.
We have come to share love,
And share it we will.
This love, so amazing,
It'll be like a pill.
An addiction to love,
In it's purest form,
As shield and sword,
We proudly adorn.
This is the truth, we live it, we die it.
Though most of my peers would quickly deny it.
Will carry it with me, hoping they'll buy it.
And when the end comes, I pray they will cry it.
Through wind and rain, dust and snow,
Will carry on, proving this isn't for show.
Who cold die for something that's false?
The idea alone brings quite a repulse.
In dying for truth, I mean to say Christ,
For in no other name, will one find life.
Many will die, but who will truly live?
I hope to be one, I say without fib.
The footsteps of One, I wish to follow,
For any other way is to live hollow.
His Body, His Blood, I will eat, drink, and swallow,
In plagues filled with doubt, I pray I won't wallow.
In following footsteps, many go before,
But sadly, the wrong way, go many more.
With prayer my friends, with eyes on the Lord,
One eagle's wings, we'll rise up and soar.
Lost
Here's a poem I wrote a few days ago, when I was feeling particular broken-hearted:
Lost, cutting myself off from everything I once loved
Hoping, and my only help is coming from above.
"What is wrong with this life?", I ask.
"All but few hide behind a mask"
"A mask of what?", my mind does wonder
Then these thoughts are cast asunder.
"Am one of those, of whom you speak?
Or have I truly begun to seek?"
To follow my King is what I wish,
for on His road, I will not miss.
But Lord, I have to quench this thirst,
I have wisdom I must seek first.
When is it my turn, my chance, my Lord?
A chance, for life, for love, or just not to be bored.
I feel emptier than I did before.
I wonder what I need, 'cause I know I want more
When is it my time, Oh Father above?
Will I find someone to love?
But Lord, I know I should not want,
And your ways, Lord, I cannot taunt.
I follow your footsteps, I'll walk in your path.
I'll let others know of your mercy and wrath.
I know I'm not humble, I claim to be great.
But I cannot even control my own fate.
My God, I'll admit, I need more of You!
And You say "You are one of my few."
Who could it be?
Good morning, anyone that is listening. My name is Eric. I've set up this blog, just so I have a place to let my personal thoughts, rants, angered messages, and ramblings run free. It will contain any number of art pieces, of the written word, or otherwise, but will also be filled with many things...that just need to be said, or that I need to say.
I hope you all enjoy your time here, and feel free to comment.
Eric
P.S.This is not an open forum. If you say something that really, really upsets me, on purpose, then you will be warned. If the problem persists, your comment will be deleted ipso facto.
