The World And You.

Look into the world? What do you see?

I see pain, suffering.
I see grief, depression.
Woman crying,
children dying.

I see disease, famine.
I see drought, hunger.
Fathers stealing,
Daughters sleazing.

I see hate, anger.
I see fear, disappointment.
Families failing,
Runaways trailing.

I see regret, remorse.
I see dishonesty, disillusion.
Self-injury,
Debauchary.

I see lust, corruption.
I see murder, suicide.
Massive loss of life.
A man, beating his wife.

Throughout our world, you see,
they'll always be some who cause us pain.
There are those who seek glory,
at the cost of innocence.

People like this rob us.
Our values are desensatized.
We seek the wrong,
but we cannot, no, will not stop it.

But then, there are people like you.
People who, by the Grace of God,
have come into my life,
and shown me the wonder that life can be.

Now...

I see warmth, comfort.
I see thanksgiving, happiness.
Care taken,
Chains breakin'.

I see miracles, blessings.
I see God moving.
Thirst quenched,
Hunger benched.

I see sinners repenting.
I see hearts healing.
Glory Given,
Son Risen.

I see beauty, grace.
I see strength, courage.
Regained life,
putting down the knife.

I see purity, security.
I see forgiveness, self-dignity.
Entires nations coming to Christ,
My and my friends living by Light.

********

Well, that's my newest work. It start as a greeting for a friend, and then I decided I'd write a poem about it.

I see a lot of people as epidomising worldliness...in a bad way.
Then I see my friends, Christians, who are Pillars of truth, purity, and love.
This poem goes out to the latter.
Prayer goes out to the former.

As usual, read and comment.
Your Servant and His,
Eric J.

P.S. I'm going to try to post some of my new stuff, and just tell you kids about whatever is going on in my life. Regularly.

Oh, just so everyone knows, when I see these things in people, they're the Christ-like qualities I noticed in people.

In a way, this is not only a poem thanking God for the blessing of my friends, but a praise poem to God Himself. That is how I meant it.

wow, that's an awesome poem i must admit it's true, there's always going to be bad, but it's the people who touch your life who make you see where the good comes from.

Nice stuff, Eric! 'Bout time you updated ;)

Glad we'll be hearing more from you!

(2 things, though. Your first line, "Look at the world? What do you see?" technically shouldn't have a ? after world. Second, epitomising is spelled with a t, not a d.) Other than that, superb!
